Van Hughes Photography
is a photographic project that offers workshops combining photography and cultural tourism in the area of the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Our base and workshop are located in Alicante, where we specialize in street / urban and landscape photography.
We organize workshops with different itineraries in both modalities where we will take you to spectacularly interesting corners and where we will evaluate your work in our center with a relaxed and friendly tone although with an experienced and critical mind.
After having lived in this geographical area for more than 35 years, we have been able to get to know our surroundings well. We feel proud and confident to be able to share it with you. But for us it is not only about photography, but about creating a creative environment where we can share common interests, create new friendships, learn from each other, enjoy life through photography motivated by incredible scenarios that you will enjoy at all levels. Our goal is to create a unique and global experience throughout our workshops for all of our participants.

WHAT DO WE OFFER
Van Hughes's workshops offers an experience that intertwines the practice and teaching of photography while enjoying Spanish culture and free time to do sightseeing at your leisure. These workshops consist of theoretical and practical sessions with digital photography during the practice of landscape, street and urban photography, as well as screenings and critic sessions of the work carried out during the workshop.
We provide our participants with accommo-dation in our local hotel and a variety of restaurants linked to us with special discounts so that you have a choice to taste Spanish gastronomy in one of the most attractive areas of Spain.
You will have time to carrie out any personal desires, sightseeing or anything you wish to do within the time you have outside of the workshop.
WHO ARE THE WORKSHOPS FOR
The workshops are aimed at a wide public, both national and foreign, both amateurs and professionals. All ages between 18 and 80 can participate in our workshops. These workshops are for someone who wants to enjoy the conection between spanish culture, aesthetics and photography. We feel that the joy of streetphotography has a lot to do with beeing in the place and feeling the experience.
The workshops may be held in Spanish and English.

We are three photographers in love with what we do. Our honest dedication to photography has made us achieve several national and international awards, but more important than that, are the many years of experience behind. Our personal award is beeing able to share and transmit our knoledge in order to help others grow.
Basilio Martinez, landscape and artistic photo-grapher. Great connoisseur of the technique both indoors, outdoors and studio work. He has been working as a photographer for over 40 years and has been selected as a jury in various international as well as national photography contests. Basilio will take us to the most attractive places in the province and help to capture the beauty that resides with in it.
Rafael Ricoy Olariaga nació en Alicante en 1968, aunque ha vivido gran parte de su vida en Madrid. Siempre ha estado muy interesado en lo visual, trabajando como ilustrador y diseñador principalmente para publicaciones de Estados Unidos, Francia y España. Considera la fotografía callejera como un complemento de su quehacer profesional que le permite seguir ejercitando el músculo visual de otra manera. Recientemente ha publicado el libro RASTRO
Van Hughes, street and social photo-grapher. His career as a photographer has been shared with graphic design for over 25 years. Awarded winner in several contests, both design and photography. Van Hughes will guide us through out the most outstanding and interesting streets and and neighborhoods of the city of Alicante. He has currently just finished his first photographic book, “SIN DISFRAZ” - UNVEILED” - Mercadillos de Alicante.
